We are excited to announce the launch of the QUASAR EU Horizon project website, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards a sustainable future. The Norwegian Solar Energy Cluster alongside our partners Sintef, Scatec and Equinor, is proud to contribute to this initiative dedicated to enabling a circular economy within the solar PV industry.

About the QUASAR Project

The QUASAR project is set to achieve over 70% eco-efficiency gains in the PV End-of-Life supply chain. By adopting closed-loop systems with improved recycling rates, systematic collection, and advanced management using digital twins, we aim to significantly enhance the industry.

19 project partners from 9 countries will collect, treat, and upgrade solar panels that have reached their end of life, densify their value, and release them to serve as new products for solar energy and other purposes. This process involves unlocking the potential of better recycled raw materials, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and efficient solar PV industry.

The transition to a circular economy is crucial for the sustainability of the solar PV industry. By enhancing recycling rates and optimizing the use of raw materials, we can significantly reduce waste and environmental impact, fostering a greener future.
